Summer Did Its Job. Fall, Here We Come.
|
|
Hi Rebels families,
Summer did exactly what it was supposed to do. Touch Tuesdays filled Roswell Area Park every week with new kids, returning kids, and a sideline full of families who now know each other by name. And we closed it out the right way, with a celebration BBQ that was less "club event" and more "big family cookout."
Now we turn toward fall. This issue is your roadmap: what's happening in August, September, and October, where registration stands, and big news on the coaching front: confirmed coaches for both our High School Girls and our High School Boys, with more in the works. Meet them below.
All dates live on our new live season calendar. Some dates are still firming up, and the calendar updates as we lock them.

Summer Recap
Thank You for Showing Up
|
|
Touch Tuesdays ran May 12 through July 4, and it worked. All ages, all levels, no pressure, just rugby. The themed nights turned out to be the secret weapon, giving families a reason to show up, bring friends, and stick around. Some of the kids who showed up curious in May are the same kids asking about fall registration now. That's the whole idea.
Summer Camp was our most successful camp yet. A week of skills, drills, and new friendships, July 6 through 10. Campers ages 5 to 14 came in at every level, from first-touch beginners to kids already dreaming in 7s, and left with better hands, better footwork, and a few new teammates. For more than a few of them, camp week was their first taste of rugby. We don't think it will be their last.
The Celebration BBQ wrapped the summer the way it deserved. Good food, full tables, kids still playing pickup in the background long after the plates were cleared. Thank you to every family who came out and everyone who helped make it happen.
📸 Relive the whole summer: the shared Summer 2026 photo album is open to all Rebels families. Browse, download your favorites, and add your own shots from the sideline.

Fields and Registration

You can see the full proposed schedule right now on our live season calendar. As the city confirms dates and fields, that calendar updates immediately, so it's always the latest word.
Registration is being finalized now, and we expect the listings, with fees, to be out in the next couple of weeks. If you'd like to be the first to know, sign up for registration alerts at rebelsrugbyga.com.
Thank you all for your patience and support. We know everyone is eager to get started, and we are working hard behind the scenes to make this a great season.

Fall Preview
The Fall Season, Squad by Squad
|
|
High School: Fall 7s season. Girls and Boys field separate teams, each with their own coaches. Age grades U14 (12–13), U16 (14–15), and U19 (16–18) combine into shared sides based on player numbers and skill, and players may be approved to play up or down for the right fit, safety first. Ages are as of Sept 1. Practices begin Tuesday, August 4, then every Tuesday and Thursday; times and field assignments live in TeamSnap. Fall is tournament season, and the road trips are the good kind, with local scrimmage weekends in between:
| SEPT 5 Irish Ruggerfest 7s, Nashville (Boys are registered, and a Girls side registers the moment we can field one) |
| OCT 31 Halloween 7s, Knoxville |
| DEC 5–6 Greer Christmas 7s, Greer SC (confirmed) |
U8, U10, U12: Fun & Fundamentals, one continuous season. October through April: register once and play the whole way through. All three squads are coed, and ages are as of Sept 1.
U8 (7 and under): touch. Rugby's front door. Kids learn to catch, pass, run, and score through hands-only touch rugby, so it stays safe while the fun comes first. It's the same tag-and-touch start grassroots clubs use worldwide.
U10 (9 and under): touch to tackle. The game grows up a little. Players start in touch and are introduced to safe tackling as the season builds, learning to pass, support a teammate, and go to ground with confidence. Coaching stays fundamentals-first and hands-on.
U12 (11 and under): touch to tackle. Where real rugby clicks. Touch opens the season, then tackling, rucking, and the first set-pieces come in as skills grow. A natural crossover for football, soccer, and wrestling athletes.
Practices begin Tuesday, October 13, then Tuesdays and Thursdays; times in TeamSnap.
How registration will work. For High School, fall 7s and spring 15s are separate listings, so players doing both seasons will register for both. We'll make that crystal clear when the listings go live. U8 to U12 families register once, and it covers October through April. Listings and fees are expected in the next couple of weeks; registration alerts at rebelsrugbyga.com get the news first.
We close the fall together. All-club sessions on Tuesday, Dec 8 and Thursday, Dec 10: every age group on the field, families welcome.
Some dates are still firming up. The live season calendar always has the latest.

Save the Date · Saturday, Sept 12
Open House + Gear Exchange
One event, two reasons to come.
The Open House is the front door to the club. Free, low-key, and built for curious families. If you know a kid who's been eyeing rugby, this is the day to bring them. No experience needed. Every kid belongs on the pitch.
The Gear Exchange is back, and it's free. Empty the closets. Cleats, boots, mouth guards, shorts, jerseys. Give what you have, take what you need. All teams, all sizes, everyone welcome.

New Coach
Meet Coach Damon Duncan: High School Girls
Please welcome Damon Duncan, the first confirmed coach for our High School Girls, 7s and 15s. And he won't be alone: more coaches are in the works.
Damon's rugby story starts the way a lot of the best ones do, with a Rebel. His oldest daughter Marilyn is a Rebels alum, and rugby has been the sport that unites the Duncan household ever since. His wife loves baseball, he does not. He loves college football, she does not. Rugby is the one they agree on, and during the Six Nations you might just catch him cheering for Scotland.
Team sports run deep for Damon. He played soccer and football growing up and coached U12 boys soccer with the Brookwood Soccer Association. His coaching philosophy stands on three pillars: conditioning, fundamentals, and fun. In his words: "I'm here to have some fun and instill some wisdom and love of rugby into the next wave of players."
Between three daughters and two small businesses, Damon stays busy. And one more thing: not many players get to say Santa is their rugby coach. 🎅🏼 Welcome, Coach Damon. 💚

New Coach
Meet Coach Griffin Hoard: High School Boys
The good news keeps coming. Welcome Griffin Hoard, confirmed to lead our High School Boys for the 2026-27 season.
Griffin brings the kind of background we want on the touchline. On the pitch: Alpharetta Phoenix, U-19 Georgia Selects, Dallas Reds, Georgia Barbarians Selects, and even a run with British Rugby Football Club in Paris. On the sideline: he coached Exiles Women last season and currently coaches Exiles U-19 7s. A coach who's still in the game and ready to build something real with this squad.
In his words: "Local rugby matters to me. Helping players reach their full potential while building a strong rugby culture is something I genuinely care about." Welcome, Coach Griffin. 💚

High School Girls
Girls, Listen Up: This Is Your Season
|
|
Here's the plan for fall. High School practices run together from day one, starting Tuesday, August 4, girls and boys on the same field. Our goal: at least 10 girls on the field in August. That's what it takes to show up at tournaments as a Rebels girls side, with our own jerseys and our own sideline.
And if we're short for a given tournament, our girls will still play. We'll partner with other clubs to get them on the field whenever the need arises. But you know what we really want.
The first test is already on the calendar: Irish Ruggerfest in Nashville, Sept 5. The boys are registered. The moment we can field a girls side, we register too.
So girls, listen up: register, and bring your friends. Bring the friend who's never touched a rugby ball; she'll figure it out fast. New coach confirmed, more on the way. Time to show up as a team.

Be Bold. Coach a Rebel.
We're Still Building the Coaching Bench
|
|
Damon is confirmed for our High School Girls, Griffin for our High School Boys, and it doesn't stop there: we're in talks with more experienced coaches to support both programs and keep great, reputable coaching on the sideline for seasons to come.
Across the club, we're still looking for coaches. You'd be working with some of the toughest, most coachable kids in north Georgia, backed by a supportive club and parent community. Certification support provided. No rugby resume required, just a willingness to show up and learn the game with the kids. Established club, est. 2013.
Know someone who'd be great? Tag them, forward this, or email info@rebelsrugbyga.com.

Alumni Corner
Holding the Door Open
|
|
Our alumni have been everywhere this summer, and we've noticed. They've been sharing the Rebels story on social, showing up at club events, and leaning in where it matters most: introducing new players to the game and helping coach them up.
That's what a club is. Kids who came through the program, coming back to hold the door open for the next ones. If you're an alum reading this, thank you. And if you want a bigger role this fall, we will happily find you one: info@rebelsrugbyga.com.

Our Turn to Ask
Help Us Fill the Fields
|
|
You asked us for better communication, and that was fair. This issue, the live calendar, and Josh's updates are our answer, and we'll keep it up.
Now we're asking something back. Here's the honest math: the club rents every field we practice and play on, and registration is what pays for it. The season works when the fields are full. So when registration opens, register early. If your player has a friend who's been curious, bring them to the Open House on Sept 12. And when the volunteer asks go out, grab a slot.
Full fields mean secured fields, season after season. That's the whole deal.
