A straight answer for parents about what girls rugby is, where it leads, and how your daughter gets started this season.

Rugby has a place for every kind of kid. Tall, small, fast, strong, brand new to sport. There are no cuts and no bench warmers. If your daughter shows up, she plays.

Why Girls Choose Rugby

Everyone Plays

No tryouts. No cuts.

Rugby needs every body type on the field at the same time. The tall kid, the strong kid, the quick kid, the kid who has never played a contact sport. Positions are built around difference, so difference is an advantage.

Real Pathway

College rugby is already built.

Women's rugby has been an NCAA Emerging Sport for more than twenty years. Around thirty institutions now sponsor it, and a number of NIRA Division I and II programs offer athletics based scholarships.

The closest one is twenty minutes from Roswell. Life University in Marietta is one of the most successful women's rugby programs in the country, with multiple national titles and both academic and athletic aid. Kennesaw State runs a women's club side too.

Global Game

The sport is coming here.

Rugby Sevens has been an Olympic sport since 2016 and returns at the Los Angeles Games in 2028. The United States hosts the Men's Rugby World Cup in 2031 and the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2033, and investment in the American game is following.

Crossover Sport

It makes her better at her other sport.

Rugby teaches contact technique, tackling and falling safely, spatial awareness, and decision making under pressure. Flag football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse and track players all carry it back into their main season.

Two Seasons, One Club

Fall Sevens

August to December

Seven a side. Fast, open, and the format used at the Olympics. A great first taste of the game.

Spring Fifteens

January to April

Fifteen a side, the traditional format. Perfect for players finishing a fall sport who want to keep competing.

Players can do one season or both. High school girls train with their own team and their own coaches. Practices are Tuesday and Thursday at Roswell Area Park.

Safety, Said Plainly

Technique comes first. New players learn contact progressively, starting with touch and tackle technique before full contact play.
Recognize and Remove. If a head injury is suspected, the player comes off. If in doubt, sit them out. Return to play follows required rest and clearance protocols.
Certified coaching. Rebels coaches carry USA Rugby coaching certification and SafeSport training.
Age grade play. Girls play within their age grade, and any move up or down is approved on safety grounds first.

Rebels club registration

The Fall Sevens club fee is $130. Referral, sibling and volunteer discounts are being finalized, so ask before you pay.

USA Rugby membership

Completed through Rugby Xplorer. This includes national membership and accident insurance.

Rugby Xplorer opens for the new season on August 14. Steps one and two can be done before then.
